Oman’s First Rocket Set for December Launch, Confirms Etlaq

Muscat: Etlaq has confirmed the launch of the Sultanate of Oman’s first space rocket is scheduled for December 2024, though the event will not be open to the public.

In a statement, Etlaq addressed recent reports about the upcoming space mission: “Regarding the news published on October 2nd about the planned space launch from Etlaq Spaceport in December 2024, we can confirm that, in line with local regulations and international safety standards, we are facilitating the launch of an experimental vehicle before the end of this year.”

The launch is being coordinated in partnership with the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, the National Space Program, the Civil Aviation Authority, NASCOM, and other institutional stakeholders.

Etlaq further stated: “We regret to inform you that the launch will not be accessible to the public. We understand the interest in this significant national milestone, and we plan to share more information following the launch. We thank you for your understanding and continued support.”
