DIFC Innovation Hub and MBRSC Advance Geospatial Accelerator to Commercial Pilot Phase

The DIFC Innovation Hub, in partnership with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and Relm Insurance, has advanced the Geospatial Accelerator into pilot development. Operating under the flagship ‘Space for Earth Labs’ platform, the initiative accelerates Dubai’s ambition to lead the global convergence of space and artificial intelligence technologies while supporting the UAE National Space Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

Selected proof-of-concept solutions will be showcased at the Dubai AI Festival, providing global exposure to institutional investors, corporate leaders, and government ministries.

Global Selection and Strategic Partnerships

The Geospatial Accelerator serves as the inaugural programme under Space for Earth Labs, providing a dedicated entry point for scaling space-derived Earth Observation (EO) data across real-world commercial and public sector applications. Following a evaluation process of 73 applications from 24 countries, ten international scale-ups were selected for pilot development:

  • Selected Scale-Ups: AtlasAI, FlyPix AI, Geospatial Insight, GHGSat, Latitudo40, Little Place Labs, SatSure, SparkGeo, Stellaria, and V-Nova.
  • Partner Entities: The scale-ups will pair with five UAE public and private sector partners, including FADA (part of EDGE Group), the National Maritime Centre at the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure, Dubai Civil Defence General Command, Buro Happold, and Liva Insurance (part of Liva Group).

These paired pilots focus on solving operational challenges in maritime safety, climate risk, built environment management, public safety, and geospatial intelligence.

Key Stakeholder Perspectives

Mohammad Alblooshi, Chief Executive Officer at DIFC Innovation Hub, noted that the accelerator demonstrates Dubai’s capacity to translate frontier technologies into economic value by aligning space, AI, finance, and industrial demand around concrete challenges. He emphasized that DIFC’s role extends beyond traditional financial services to building the ecosystems and investment infrastructure required for emerging technologies to transition from proof-of-concept to commercial scale under the D33 agenda.

Saeed AlMansoori, Director of the Remote Sensing Department at MBRSC, stated that the programme creates a clear channel to convert Earth Observation data into actionable insights for national priorities. He highlighted that close collaboration between government entities and industry partners demonstrates the broader value of space data in driving the UAE National Space Strategy 2030.

Joseph Ziolkowski, CEO and Founder of Relm Insurance, emphasized that the initiative connects space-tech and AI firms with real operational needs where trust must be established for institutional adoption. He added that specialty insurance acts as a key enabler by providing flexible coverage structures, giving innovators and customers the confidence required to test, adopt, and scale emerging solutions.
