Qatar-based satellite operator Es’hailSat has finalized two major agreements to advance the Es’hail-3/Türksat-Biruni satellite program, securing a strategic partnership with Turkish operator Türksat and awarding the manufacturing contract to Thales Alenia Space.
Operating from the 50° East geostationary orbital slot, the high-throughput satellite will utilize Ka-band technology to deliver advanced broadband, Direct-to-Home broadcasting, enterprise connectivity, and secure government telecommunications services. Built on Thales Alenia Space’s software-defined Space INSPIRE platform, the spacecraft features dynamic in-orbit reconfiguration capabilities, allowing flexible beam allocation and bandwidth adjustments over its operational lifespan.
The joint program expands high-speed digital infrastructure across four key geographic zones: the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Europe, Central Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Financing is spearheaded by Doha, while Türksat retains orbital slot registration rights with the International Telecommunication Union, reinforcing regional space asset cooperation between Qatar and Türkiye.
