D-Orbit Saudi Launches Saudi Workforce Program, Training Engineers on Live Satellite Missions

New hires will receive hands-on training at D-Orbit’s facilities in Italy before continuing their careers in the Kingdom

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, September 1st, 2026: D-Orbit Saudi, the newest expansion of D-Orbit’s global space logistics operations, today announced the launch of its first structured hiring program in the Kingdom. The program is designed to build a local engineering and operations team through hands-on training on live satellite missions.

New technical hires will begin their training-on-the-job inside D-Orbit’s existing operations in Italy, working directly on active missions, including the ION Satellite Carrier, alongside the company’s engineering and mission operations teams. Trainees will then continue their careers in Saudi Arabia, applying that experience to D-Orbit’s growing operations in the Kingdom. These engineers will be the first workforce of D-Orbit Saudi and will pioneer commercial space manufacturing in the Kingdom.

We’re not looking to fill desks. We want our Saudi team to learn the way our own engineers did, hands-on, working on live satellites. By training in Italy first, they’ll return to Saudi Arabia bringing real operational experience with them, not just a job title,” said Luca Rossettini, CEO of the D-Orbit Group. “Our commitment to the Kingdom isn’t seasonal. We’re laying the foundation of an international space hub here, one we plan to keep investing in for years to come, and we’re inviting Saudi talents, at home and abroad, to help us build it.

The program reflects D-Orbit’s broader commitment to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 objectives. In-Kingdom workforce development and technology transfer are central to the country’s ambitions for its space sector, and D-Orbit sees local talent as a long-term priority rather than a short-term hiring need. The company expects the program to grow alongside its operations in the Kingdom.

The announcement was made during LEAP, Saudi’s flagship global technology and innovation event, held from 31 August to 3 September at the Riyadh Exhibition C Convention Centre.
