The strategic partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and France reached a landmark milestone following the official state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to Paris. Invited by French President Emmanuel Macron, the summit marked the first official visit of an Omani ruler to France in nearly four decades and culminated in the signing of 12 high-level bilateral agreements, declarations of intent, and commercial MoUs at the Élysée Palace.

- MBSAT & Telespazio France Strategic Pact: Mohammed Al Barwani Satellites (MBSAT)—the space and satellite communications division of Oman’s MB Group—signed a major Memorandum of Understanding with Telespazio France (a joint venture between Leonardo and Thales). Signed in Paris by MB Group CEO Said Al Jabri and Telespazio leadership, the agreement focuses on co-developing advanced satellite communications services, earth observation data applications, and regional telemetry capabilities across the Middle East and Europe.The collaboration accelerates MBSAT’s broader $200 million digital space infrastructure investment, which includes ground station deployment and Oman’s upcoming dedicated MicroGEO communications satellite in partnership with Astranis.
- Downstream Aerospace Infrastructure Expansion: Parallel to space domain agreements, Omani commercial entities and technology integrators solidified contracts with French industrial leaders like Thales Group and Airbus Defence and Space to expand national airspace surveillance, secure telecommunications networks, and digital data infrastructure, securing significant target percentages in local tech transfer and In-Country Value (ICV).
