The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Space Agency (SSA), and the Federative Republic of Brazil, represented by the Brazilian Space Agency, have formalized an agreement to strengthen their collaboration in the peaceful exploration and utilization of outer space.

This milestone agreement was signed during the official visit of Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Altamimi, Chief Executive of the SSA, who is participating in the Fifth Space Economy Leaders Meeting (SELM) in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, from September 11 to 13. The event brings together leaders from space agencies of G20 nations, along with executives from leading Brazilian space companies.

Dr. Altamimi underscored that the agreement reflects the support and vision of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Supreme Space Council, who is driving Saudi Arabia’s ambition to position itself as a global leader in the space economy, which is projected to reach $2 trillion by 2035.

The scope of the agreement spans various fields of space cooperation, including space science research, remote sensing, space communications, space biology, satellite development, weather monitoring, and the establishment of ground infrastructure for space systems.

This partnership reflects the SSA’s ongoing commitment to forging strong international collaborations in the space sector, with the goal of accelerating scientific research and innovation for the benefit of humanity, and contributing to the growth of the global space economy.
