Edge Launches Fada to Drive UAE’s Space Ambitions

Edge Headquarters in Abu Dhabi

UAE defence giant Edge has launched Fada, a new company focused on manufacturing Earth observation satellites and providing integrated cybersecurity solutions. Fada will play a key role in developing the UAE Space Agency’s Sirb constellation, a network of radar imaging satellites, with the first satellite set for launch in 2026.

According to Waleid Al Mesmari, President of Space and Cyber Technologies at Edge, Fada aims to be a one-stop shop for Earth observation services, supporting applications like urban planning and emergency response. Fada will also integrate advanced cybersecurity into its satellite systems, addressing rising global cyber threats.

Fada’s operations will be based in a new facility in Abu Dhabi, which will handle satellite manufacturing, assembly, and testing. The facility is expected to create jobs and enhance the UAE’s engineering and space capabilities, although the timeline for its completion is not yet confirmed.
